CURRENT FINALIST: LONDON PUB THEATRES STANDING OVATION AWARD – BEST SOLO SHOW

Bob Karper’s unique and award-nominated production returns to the Hope following a successful summer run cut short by Covid-19!

Oh! Suburbia! is a One-Man Avant-Garde Theatrical Revue from multi-award winning performer/raconteur/musician Bob Karper. Bob’s sheltered, hum-drum suburb in the American Midwest transforms into a rollicking number-packed show full of surprising, funny, intriguing stories, songs and film.

Part tongue-in-cheek, part profound, and all true, with an audio cast of UK seniors considering the lofty questions of life: Where are the suburbs of our consciousness? The suburbs of ourselves? and Is there any greater injustice than getting blamed for something your sisters did?

Directed by Gary Winters from Lone Twin and performed by Herald Angel, Live Theatre New Writing and Anti-Fest Best of the Best Award winner Bob Karper:

A profoundly interesting storyteller… Like Tom Waits soundtracking “The Waltons”, Karper is part performance artist, part cabaret.’
Glasgow Herald

Like a late-night chat with a stranger in a bar, he’s a wistful yet unsentimental storyteller with a beguiling and idiosyncratic style.’
– The Guardian

The one-man show is all about empathy, and Karper is a maestro.
– The Stage
