The Bareback Kings

'Hilarious, energetic and satirical... The wit and crackling humour allows for no dull moments'

production team

The Bareback Kings are a drag-king comedy group. Through improvisation, cabaret and sketch, the lads take on the issues of our age: gender, politics, twerking – whatever comes up! They’ll steal your hearts and expand your minds, one crotch-thrust at a time!

Their physical, high-octane comedy is rude, crude and even heartfelt, as it explores the notion that, in these difficult times, it’s still ok to be a lad. So long as you’re not a nob about it. The show features improvised comedy, song, dance, and at least a dollop of lip-syncing to classic boy band tracks.

So if you like your comedy riotous, real, and with a sock down its pants, you’ll love The Bareback Kings

‘Genuinely hilarious’
– The Sunday Times

‘Hilarious and raucous explosion…The group have deftly distilled the essence of lads, lads, lads…I could literally watch ALL DAY.’
– Phoenix Remix

This production is part of Camden Fringe.

Brent

Francesca Reid

Brent Would...would anything, literally anything, even you! A lovable rogue, he's trying hard to be woke, but takes an accidental nap from time to time. Brent, is an all-singing, all-dancing hot piece of man flesh! However, until they ask him onto Love Island, he's keeping it real on the mean streets of Bas-vegas (Basildon), selling fruit and veg.

Francesca Reid (Brent) is an applied theatre and improvisation practitioner specialising in discovery through play and organic resolution of trauma through creativity. Fran uses clown, commedia dell’arte, playback, forum and spoken word to work with a range of participants including young offenders, special educational need groups and refugees. She has worked extensively as a corporate trainer. Francesca is also an actor/singer/comedian/presenter and graduate of East 15 Acting School. Using Johnstonian theory in her early work, Francesca later trained in Los Angeles in longform improv at iO West and Second City. She coaches and performs at UK and European festivals and for Monkey Toast UK. Fran was co-founder of acclaimed longform narrative musical team Multiverse and is currently in Dreamweaver & Newsical - both musical improv shows. She is also comedy drag superstar Brent Would (also of the bad boys, The Bareback Kings).

Dirk Spalls

Rebecca Schuster

Dirk Spalls is Seb's Canadian cousin. He hung out with the lads once back in 2017 when he was visiting Seb. He still hasn't left. Like an overexcited puppy, Dirk's always on the hunt for something to hump. Thankfully the other lads remind him to keep it in his pants.

Rebecca Schuster (Dirk) is a Canadian comedian based in London England. She has been improvising since 2011 and has trained with Improv Olympics, Free Association, Monkey Toast and members of the Upright Citizens Brigade. When not improvising, Rebecca writes sketch comedy, performs solo character acts, and eats baked beans with her bare hands straight out of a can.

Gary Balding

Juliet Morrish

Gary Balding is a 30-something Deliveroo driver from an unidentified part of The North. He wears the t-shirts of bands he's never heard of. His favourite restaurant is Pizza Express - you can't go wrong with a round of dough balls. Above all else, he loves his mates.

Juliet Morrish (Gary) has been improvising for 15 years. She started out performing short form with The Oxford Imps and has obsessed over long-form improv for the past decade, training with The Free Association, Monkey Toast UK, iO and UCB. By day, Jules is a TV producer.

Tyson

Lynsey Bonell

Tyson loves the power of a single name, much like Beckham and Beyonce. He's still known as Joseph to his Mum but decided to rebrand to Tyson after seeing Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat. He'd love to be a magician but earns his money working in 'Spoons and will happily share his staff discount with you. He's a bit like a loveable puppy that just wants his mates attention and is happy to be one of the Lads.

Lynsey Bonell (Tyson) is a comedian, writer and actor and has performed with a number of sketch and improv teams in Sydney, London and New York. She also co-hosted and co-produced several sell-out New York comedy shows including These Are Not My Words, Hot Goss with Trash Comedy and Brexit and Beyond. Her solo work includes shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as regularly performing character sets. She's been improvising for 15 years and has trained with UCB, Second City, The Free Association, Monkey Toast and more.
