Amelia and Bonnie are always together. They watch ‘snog marry avoid’ and ‘don’t tell the bride’ together. They wait for their parents together.
15 years later, Bonnie has a grown-up boyfriend, living in a grown-up flat in a grown-up city that makes her feel tiny. When she stumbles across Amelia’s instagram, a single message sparks a reunion dinner that spirals into a time warp of memory and emotion. Childhood flashbacks collide with adult unease in this bold, time-bending two-hander about friendship, identity and the people we leave behind — or can’t let go of.
Funny, aching and full of 2000s throwbacks, Disco 2000 asks: what happens when your past shows up at your front door and wants to stay for dinner?
Written by Rosa Honey Gatley and produced by Hedge Maze Theatre, Disco 2000 is a sharp, funny, and heartfelt new dramedy about female friendship, fractured memory and the fear of growing up. Told through a non-linear structure that jumps between past and present, it captures the electric intensity of female friendship — and what happens when that spark starts to flicker.
