(49 MINUTES & 36 SECONDS BEFORE THE END OF THE WORLD)
‘Doll traps bug in room with her in the pre-apocalypse … I wonder what Kafka would make of all this.’
Forty-nine minutes and thirty six seconds until the end of the world. Alone in her bedroom, Jennie kidnaps a cockroach to try and leave something, anything, of her story behind.
As the clock ticks down, Jennie ponders family, her transition, lost friends, and what it means to finally want to live as the world crumbles.
Fat Cow Theatre began as a collaboration between writer, Evie Chandler, and director, Elliot Aitken, with ‘COW’ at the King’s Head Theatre in 2023. ‘Jennie and the Cockroach’ is their second project together as part of their ongoing interrogation of the messy, uncomfortable feelings that come with being trans, alongside the joy and love which can come from community.
