"I have to start again...from the ground up. Cobble together a new kind of church...."

When a once-devoted religious sister is cast out by her church for trying to live truthfully as a queer woman, she sets out to examine her inner self, how she got here, and what she needs to do next. What results is a new kind of church, with a newfound community, rooted in rebellion against the harmful beliefs that once kept her restrained.

Makeshift (A Queer Mass) is a strikingly relevant piece which confronts the relationship between queerness and religion, past trauma and new beginnings, and activism and performance - and how, when we fight not only for ourselves but for all those who have been left on the fringes, there is boundless joy to be shared.
