A REHEARSED READING

“She just texted and said ‘would you be up for helping’… well, what she actually said was ‘come and help or he’ll fucking haunt you.’”

A memorial service at a community football club in Kent. Callum’s returned to his hometown especially. Tracey, the club secretary, desperately needs tonight to run smoothly but Jim, the long serving team mascot, has news that could change everything. Over the course of a long summer’s day in the club’s airless changing room, these unsuspecting three are made to confront the past head on… and something is conjured that must be exorcised.

Funny, thrilling & heartbreaking, MASCOT interrogates how we grieve, where we belong and the communities that make us.

A rehearsed-reading presented by JAWBONES Theatre (director Sarah Stacey & writer Jack Condon) who return to The Hope Theatre after their 5* run of If Destroyed Still True.
