PHILIA

14th - 16th January

8.30PM
£12/£10

Jules, a passionate teacher, has always prided himself on his dedication to his students - even outside the classroom. After the death of his best friend’s father, he gathers with the grieving Phil and fellow teacher Lauren for an intimate wake. When Lauren and Phil’s relationship falls apart, hidden betrayals begin to surface, straining the fragile bond between the three friends.

When love, trust, and ambition collide, the three of them must face their own guilty secrets, watching their lives deteriorate beyond repair. But when Jules stumbles upon a dark truth, he is forced to make an impossible choice—one that will test his loyalties, and ultimately, his own sense of morality.

After winning Best Script for his first play Pity Parade at the SIFTY International Theatre Festival in Kraków, Patrick is excited to debut Philia under PaperBoat Theatre - his new company dedicated to championing new writing in an age where AI threatens to invade the stage and screen.

Directed by Kat Stidston, this play offers an intimate look into the lives of three people who must confront the darkest parts of themselves and ask: when someone commits the truly unforgivable, can there ever be a way back?
