Submissions

Our seven-nights-a-week programme is an exciting mix of new writing, lost gems, re-polished classics and innovatively-staged musicals. We get excited by stories that are dramatic, suprising, and have something to say about the world we live in now - and we love to support ambitious theatre-makers in presenting bold and imaginative productions.

How to apply

Please ensure you include the following information within your submission email:

* Script, or outline treatment if it's a devised piece
* Preferred dates and length of run
* Details of the company and any creative team or actors involved
* Reviews or images of any previous runs or past productions from the same team, if applicable

Main Show Programme

Our main show programme consists of full-scale productions which have a one-and-a-half, two, three or four week run. Performances are Tuesday - Saturday and start between 7.30pm and 8pm, with the option of adding one weekday matinee per week. Currently we are programming for November 2022 onwards.

Send your submission email to phil@thehopetheatre.com. Within three weeks we'll read your proposal and be in touch to let you know if we think the production would be a good fit for the Hope.

Sunday-Monday Programme

The Sunday-Monday programme slots are perfect for new ideas and small-scale productions. These two-night or four-night runs are a great opportunity for companies to try out new work in front of na audience, and for innovative shows and performers to make their mark.

Send your submission email to info@thehopetheatre.com. Within three weeks we'll read your proposal and be in touch to let you know if we think the production would be a good fit for the Hope.

Seeing Your Work

If you wish to invite us to see your work, email info@thehopetheatre.com with details of the event and as much supporting information as possible - ideally including a copy of the script.

Rehearsed Readings and Workshops

If you are interested in using our theatre space for rehearsed readings or workshops, email info@thehopetheatre.com. Let us know your preferred dates and any additional information information regarding the nature of the event and the estimated number of participants. Bear in mind that evenings are seldom available because we usually have performances taking place in the space.

Live Music

If you are looking to book the basement for a live music gig, please note that this space is not managed by the Hope Theatre. Please email bookthehope@gmail.com with your enquiry instead. 

Technical

The performance space seats up to 50, depending on which seating configuration is used. We love work that uses the room in inventive ways and embraces its flexibility. The space measures 7m x 5.5m and the height to rig is 3.5m.
